Well have a look at the top of this label...the two blokes who picked the apples in this cider are named!

For those of you that have no idea what 'Scrumpy' is, it is rough cider and it is very, very strong. 'Snake Catcher' is also the name of a local pub in the New Forest. I saw this at the Great Dorset Steam Fair and just before I had a 'few' pints of the nectar itself LOL

Cornish Cider from Haye Farm, Lerryn - Tue, 19 Sep 2006

This delectable cider is from Haye Farm Cider, based in St Veep, near Lerryn, in Cornwall. The local pub, the Ship Inn, sells it by the pint, and it's one of the nicest ciders there is in my opinion.

On first sip, my first thought was "Calvados!" - it's got that intense apple flavour that many ciders seem to lack, despite being made from apples. It's not made on a huge scale, and you can tell - this is real 'craft' cider, and well worth hunting down.

I can't find a website for the farm, but their details are on the Food from Cornwall website. Colin and Rita Vincent: Haye Farm, St Veep, Lerryn, Lostwithiel, Cornwall PL22 0PB Tel: 01208 872250. It's 1.5 miles out of Lerryn on the St Veep road. It's signposted, apparently (must test that out next time).

Proper scrumpy cider from Moles Brewery in Melksham, Wiltshire, UK. As sold at the Anchor and Hope, Winchester Street, Salisbury. Despite the bubbles (it had just been drawn from the barrel) this is a still cider.
