I live in the north of Spain (Asturias) a little region where cider is, by far, the most apreciate drink. We are really proud of our cider and many people collect all kind of things related with it. I'm one of then and I have a great deal of cider labels (more than 2.000). I would like to contact with some English collector to exchange with him. I have many Spanish cider labels to offer to somebody who could give me English cider labels.
My mail address is jose.ojeda.lopez@hotmail.com
Best regards to everybody

Double screw cider press for sale. Beautiful example of a 19th century cast iron screw press, rare find in a herefordshire cider barn. Oak all replaced professionally, comes complete. Huge, 2m high when fully extended. At £1000 would suite a budding professional looking to grow, or a community cider circle. wonderful vintage bit of kit. i will email photos on request.

There's a festival at Wetherspoons pubs from 21 - 31 July. The range of ciders will vary from pub to pub, but in the Tom Toya Lewis pub in Newport (Gwent)they had 9 draught ciders and 3 bottled. I had a pint of Sheppy's, Devon Farmhouse Scrumpy and Thatcher's Traditional (medium), each seved by gravity straight from the barrel, and each wonderful and refreshing. Recommended.

Hello everyone! I write from Cuneo, a little city of northern Italy which has got a good tradition in cultivating apple because of his climate and his altitude.
I'm wondering if tomorrow I will be able to bring here the art of cider making, I mean: we have got a lot of ancient variety of apple and good condition for growing apple...There would be a possibility to bring here the art of real cider maker!
I've allready made a couple of time the Cider and it has been good, but when I taste a cider made in a country with the tradition of these is something different...
My question is this: I want to become a cider maker, I've got some field where I will grow the best apple for this but the best I will learn this art the better I will make my future on this.

Please take care about this, is my dream but It will be able to become reality if I will spend an experience in a real-cider mill... Thanks

Hello Cyder lovers, can anyone tell me why some of the batches I made last year while tasting pretty good half way through ended up with a soapy taste to them?

Nearly thirty years ago my father R.K. French wrote a book 'The History and Virtues of Cyder'. This book has inspired many cyder makers over the years. Written when cyder was possibly at it's lowest ebb, the book is a plea for the return to real cyder as opposed to 'white cider' - the carbonated chemical soup sold cheaply in supermarkets.

This book describes the rise and fall of cyder, and sets out in practical detail the traditional techniques for making it. We are all familiar with pasteurized, bland and carbon-dioxide-injected cider, but cyder is a living wine of some subtlety, matured in cask and bottle in the manner of champagne. Cyder disappeared from England in the nineteenth century, yet at its height in the seventeenth century cyder was often preferred to good French white wine and there was much discussion on how cyder should best be made. Today cyder is having a renaissance. The reader is taken through all the necessary stages from planting the tree, gathering the fruit, pressing and fermentation to laying down a vintage. The book also includes cyder food and drink recipes for when you have made your cyder.

http://www.halebooks.com/display.asp?K=9780709091226&aub=R.K.%20French&pge=hale&m=1&dc=1

Might make a great Christmas present for the cyder maker in your like!

Bibendum!
