This is a fascinating insight into British farming practices in the 1840′s. The document below is dated 1847 and is titled “British Husbandry – exhibiting the modern farming practice and various agricultural improvements”.
For cider fans, read from page 363 onwards where you’ll find a description of the methods used in cropping the fruit from orchards, and also cider and perry production.
