Cider making – a photo diary of a ‘pressing’ day!

These are the photos of our pressing of local sussex apples.

We made 2.5 gallons using a vigo 9 litre press.
The apples were russet, golden delicious and bramley.
The apple juice was delicious, most of the juice is now being fermented and will be ready in about 6 months time..

View our cider making videos and learn what equipment you need to make cider.

Lovely photo set Jim. I started with exactly the same 9 litre press several years ago. We're now using a Voran Hydraulic press, so be careful, this cidermaking lark can get out of control…

    Hi Mark,

Thanks very much for the feedback and information how you got started. It's great to hear from you.

Now I am reading up about the fermentation process? How did you learn about this?

I was given a bottle of apple juice from the pressings of some friends unidentified cornish apples last year. Having forgotten about it for a while, I went to drink it a couple of months later and it had turned to cider. Have to say it was pretty damned good.

Great site Jim, we so need to promote real food – and real drink of course.

    Hi Choclette,

Thanks for the comments, that sounds like a good turn out! There aren't so many Cornish cider producers, so encourage your friends to make more like that!
